Board of Trustees
First UU’s Board of Trustees consists of four officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, & Treasurer) and up to four at-large members. As the representative governing body of the congregation, the Board acts on the behalf of the congregation, subject to the authority granted under our bylaws. First UU currently uses a policy-style of governance. In this model, the Board establishes governance policies and delegates authority to the minister, who is held accountable for the operational organization of the First UU.
During FY 2025-2026, First UU is undertaking a transition from policy-type governance to a strategic governance model. The Board is actively discerning our current governance functions with the goal of creating a leadership structure with shared authority and collaborative decision-making processes that better meet the needs of First UU. A strategic governance model will also allow flexibility in adjusting our leadership structure to the strengths of our future settled minister.
Board meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month, starting at 6:30 pm. Members who wish to observe an upcoming meeting (or who would like to speak during the first 10 minutes of a meeting) by Zoom may email requests to president@uusat.org. Otherwise, anyone may attend and participate in “Board Listening Sessions” held once a month either in person on a Sunday at 12:00 pm or on a Thursday evening at 7:00 pm by Zoom.
