Board of Trustees

First UU’s Board of Trustees consists of four officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, & Treasurer) and up to four at-large members. As the representative governing body of the congregation, the Board acts on the behalf of the congregation, subject to the authority granted under our bylaws. First UU currently utilizes a hybrid policy/strategic governance format. In this model, the Board establishes governance policies and delegates authority to the minister, who is held accountable for the operational organization of the First UU.

During FY 2026-2027, First UU is completing the transition from policy-type to strategic governance. The Board is actively creating a leadership structure with shared authority and collaborative decision-making processes that better meet the needs of First UU. The board is also engaged in efforts to broaden and deepen the ways by which it communicates with the congregation and the world, seeking to increase transparency, openness and understanding.

Board meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month, starting at 6:30 pm. Members who wish to observe any upcoming meeting, speak during the first 10 minutes of a meeting, or reach out with any questions or comments may contact us at board@uusat.org.
