CREF Awards Criteria and Rubric

CRITERIA

  • To be eligible for consideration, each CREF awardee must:

    • Be an organization or coalition based in the San Antonio metro area or that has been working in the San Antonio metro area for at least 2 years

    • Have 501c3 status (a coalition may designate one member organization as the primary applicant and use that nonprofit’s tax-exempt status)

    • Commit to spend CREF funds in the San Antonio metro area within 2 years

    • Dedicate at least 50% of its resources (programming, staffing, volunteer time, etc.) to advance racial justice, environmental justice, gender and sexuality justice, reproductive justice, immigration justice, and/or Middle East justice

    CREF is seeking organizations or coalitions that can provide:

    • Evidence of a clear, long-term strategy to address the root causes of injustice in the San Antonio metro area

    • At least two examples of initiatives or programs from the last 2 years to demonstrate how they have been focusing their efforts on the root causes of injustice in the San Antonio metro area

    • Information about their impact in previous year(s)

    Preference will be given to organizations or coalitions that:

    • Address the intersections of 2 or more types of justice

    • Collaborate with other organizations advancing justice in the San Antonio metro area

    • Focus on topics with limited or reduced funding due to political decisions at a local, state, or federal level

    • Are committed to advancing equity and inclusion

 

RUBRIC

Each question will be scored on a scale of 1 to 5. There are 100 points available. The points given will be weighted evenly, so for a question worth 20 points, a 1 will be worth 0 points, a 2 will be worth 5 points, a 3 will be worth 10 points, a 4 will be worth 15 points, and a 5 will be worth the full 20 points. Similarly, for a question worth 10 points, a 1 will be worth 0 points, a 2 will be worth 2.5 points, a 3 will be worth 5 points, a 4 will be worth 7.5 points, and a 5 will be worth 10 points.
