Purpose

The Aesthetics Team oversees the appearance of the church interior and exterior to present a well-designed, pleasant atmosphere to our congregation and guests. As part of the Facilities Team, it works with the Maintenance and Repair, Grounds Committees, and the Green Sanctuary Team to see that regular maintenance needs are taken care of in a timely manner. The team also confers with these committees as appropriate on the church exterior and grounds. 

Responsibilities and Scope

• Oversee the purchase of furniture, carpeting, and other major items to be sure that the overall appearance of the interior is consistent and inviting.
• Oversee and decorate the public spaces in the buildings and assess the usefulness and desirability of artwork, furnishings or other decorative objects offered for donation to the church. The team decides whether to accept such gifts and when, where, how, and how long to display them and how to pass them on when no longer useful to the church.
• Regularly inspect all aspects of the interior of the church for maintenance needs and bring such items to the attention of the Maintenance and Repair Committee.
• Meet on an as-needed-basis, with individual committee members who are taking the lead in different areas. We sit on the Facilities Team, attending their quarterly meetings.
