“Solidarity is Love” with Pablo Vasquez and Rev. Nell Newton
As we observe the Transgender Day of Remembrance, it’s important to remember one of the chief tools in combating the threats that face the Transgender community and many others in grave danger during these difficult times. That tool is solidarity, and this sermon will be a reminder of the importance of building and maintaining a call to action that reminds us of what’s at the core of solidarity: Love. Music by Jaime Ramirez and the First UU Choir.
Pablo Vazquez (Any Pronouns) is an Afro-Latin Genderfluid Queer Immigrant UU from Panama aspiring towards ministerial fellowship. Pablo engages spiritually in a multireligious fashion and encourages theological diversity and questioning often. They are in their last year at Starr King School for the Ministry, a place they definitely love, which will provide them with their second graduate degree after attaining an MA in Religions at SOAS University of London. Currently, Pablo is an Intern Minister at Beacon UU in Summit, New Jersey, and is happy to be back in San Antonio today as Pablo considers it their “American hometown”.
