Sexuality Education for Youth
At First UU, we provide a series of comprehensive sexuality education courses called Our Whole Lives (OWL). OWL helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior.
Grounded in a holistic view of sexuality, Our Whole Lives not only provides facts about anatomy and human development, but also helps participants clarify their values, build interpersonal skills, and understand the spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of sexuality.
On a rotating basis, we offer courses for grades K-1, 5-6, 8-9, and 11-12.
Leaders of the courses are trained and follow a faith-wide curriculum. A parent orientation is required, and students may enter only at the beginning of the course; after that, it is closed. More information about the curriculum is available at the Unitarian Universalist Association’s website.
