First UU Organizations

Social Justice Committee

First UU pledges to trust and respect women and people who can become pregnant.  The Social Justice Committee (SJC)  has designated member(s) to work with our reproductive justice partners in the larger community and congregation, to educate and provide public witness for reproductive justice in the legislative and political arena and the media.  We organize contributions and congregational participation in the annual Planned Parenthood of South Texas Luncheon.  

We strive to create a church environment where women and people who can become pregnant will be free from stigma, shame, or judgement for their reproductive decisions, including abortion. We believe access to comprehensive and affordable reproductive health services is a moral and social good.
