One of our community partners (and recent CREF recipient), ACT4SA, has launched petitioning efforts for its ballot initiative promoting a “San Antonio Justice Charter”.
The New San Antonio city charter initiative would amend the City Charter of San Antonio to adopt a justice policy that will, reduce unnecessary arrests, mitigate racial bias, and save scarce public resources through a comprehensive set of popular reforms, including:
· Ending enforcement of low-level marijuana possession
· Ending enforcement of abortion care
· Banning no-knock police warrants
· Banning police chokeholds
· Prioritizing citations instead of arrests for low-level nonviolent crimes
Next Sunday, before and after church, the Racial Justice-Black Lives Matter group will be on the church patio collecting petition signatures for this initiative and collecting office supply donations for ACT4SA.
If you can help with any of the following supplies, please drop them off before or after service over the next two Sundays:
· banker boxes with lids (medium size)
