Green Cemetery Tour

Join us Saturday, October 21, from 9 am to 11 am for a Tour of 5 H Ranch and Unbroken Circle Green Cemetery.

The cemetery is specifically designed to save and restore significant wildlands and habitats, with fewer interments than usual cemeteries. Green burials are less “wasteful” of time, money, and natural resources. Some people embrace green burial for its natural renewal and growth – a way to give back to the earth that sustains us all.

The 5 H Ranch consists of 246.67 acres of land located in southwest Bexar County, Texas. A conservation easement, held by Green Spaces Alliance (GSA), was placed on the property in December 2020. The conservation easement ensures preservation of the following natural attributes of the property:

1. The undisturbed natural condition of the property

2. The natural, scenic, open space, ecological, and educational values

3. The significant habitat for wildlife and plants

The 5 H Ranch and the surrounding area support a variety of wildlife, and placement of this ranch in a conservation easement improves the quality of habitat available for wildlife, resulting in more diversity and attraction of migratory species moving through the area.

We will meet at the cemetery that is located 30 minutes south of First UU Church off of IH-35 South. Our schedule is as follows:

9 am to 9:15 am: Gather at cemetery with introduction to conservation burial

9:15 am to 9:45 am: tour of the cemetery

9:45 am to 11:00 am: nature tour
