80% of incarcerated women are mothers who are the primary caregiver to minor children. This hybrid panel of three formerly incarcerated criminal legal system reformers and an allied mother-lawyer who is a reformer will discuss restorative justice for women as part of Dream Week 2023. Panelists include: Cynthia Simons, coordinator, Women’s Justice Coalition, Texas Center for Justice and Equity ; Lauren Johnson, Criminal Justice Outreach Coordinator, Texas ACLU; Laquita Garcia, Statewide Right-To-Justice Coordinator, Texas Organizing Project; and Shannon FitzPatrick, retired prosecutor and member, San Marcos UU Fellowship.
