First UU Organizations

Justice Action Team (JAT)

 With the rise of autocracy and the threat of fascism in our country, First UU San Antonio Social Justice Committee (SJC) formed a democracy action team as recommended by the Unitarian Universalists for Social Justice (UUSJ).  Because so many social justice issues are affected by the rise of fascism, this small leadership group is called the Justice Action Team (JAT).

 The JAT is closely affiliated with the SJC, organizing many volunteers from the congregation for actions to support democracy, such as communication; outreach and collaboration; nonviolent protests; voter registration; election work; getting out the vote; advocacy; protecting targeted people; mutual aid; and much more.

 There are many things to do to support democracy and resist fascism. The UUSJ outlines “the 4 B’s” as categories to work on:

 First UU Social Justice Committee

The Social Justice Committee (SJC)  coordinates social justice activities with SJC teams and sub groups, the congregation members and leadership,  and with partners in the larger community; and provides opportunities for our members to live out their commitment to the values and principles of our faith.

Texas Unitarian Universalist Justice Ministry (TXUUJM) 

TXUUJM is a statewide justice ministry that raises the voice of Unitarian Universalist values in the public arena and seeks to have those values enacted into legislation and promulgated in public policy. Guided by UU values and principles, TXUUJM educates and organizes member congregations and partners to advocate effectively for just public policies.   

Unitarian Universalists for Social Justice (UUSJ)

The UUSJ works to advance equitable national policies and actions, aligned with UU values, through engagement, education, and advocacy. 

Side With Love 

Side With Love is the Organizing Strategy Team of the Unitarian Universalist Association. We harness the power of love to confront and transform systems of oppression and build a world where all people can thrive. Through organizing, education, and mobilization, we equip Unitarian Universalists and aligned communities to take spiritually grounded, justice-oriented action.
