Our Capital Reserve Plan
In April 2018, The Trust Fund for Endowments provided the funds needed to obtain an in in depth evaluation of the church’s buildings and campus infrastructure status. This plan provides projections of the useful lifetimes of our physical engineering systems and structural components, provides an analysis of repair and replacement costs of these items, and finally forecasts the capital reserve requirements needed to meet these cost over the next 30 years. It is the intent that this evaluation and the resulting report serve to provide the Church with a “foundation document” that can be used to both anticipate infrastructure expenses and communicate more effectively with the Congregation the nature of the needs in this area.
The company hired to provide the site analysis and report, The AR Capital Reserves group, specializes in the evaluation of church infrastructure needs. They were recommended by the Unitarian Universalist Association and have been successfully used by neighboring UU Churches. The project was reviewed and deemed to be a needed foundation document by the Maintenance & Repair, Grounds, and Green Team chairs serving on the Facilities Team. The First UU Board of Trustees formally discussed the proposal and agreed that it should go forward as soon as funds could be acquired.
The steps to implement the plan are now in the early stages of development. Click on the link below to read the full Plan Report.
