Chinese Philosophy & Religion

March 25, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 9:30 am on Sunday, repeating until April 29, 2018

Join us for an exploration and discussion of Chinese philosophies and religions. We will focus primarily on Daoism and Confucianism, although our discussions will surely lead us to an examination of important ancient Chinese concepts such as: the I Ching, ancestor worship, divination, and more. Chinese religions differ from those of the West in many ways, no less than the fact that they are non-theistic or at least not monotheistic in the Western sense. Much of the information we will look at will come from a BBC religion website Рhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/ and Stephen Prothero’s excellent book, God Is Not One: The Eight Rival Religions That Run the World (It is not necessary to buy the book). Facilitated by Terry Goddard.
