You May Not Believe It: The Demise of White Supremacy

If one grew up in the 1950s or early 1960s, segregation and the rules of racial etiquette prevailed. There was little in the way of black participation in all areas of social life, but that generation of white baby boomers, which makes up the bulk of older conservatives, will soon fade away and with it much of the conservative base.
