75th Anniversary Homecoming Weekend
Join Us as We Kick Off Our 75th Anniversary Celebrations!
75 years ago, our church was founded by brave free thinkers, who wanted not only a place to worship, but a place to share ideas and put ideas into action. Thus, our church was born. Our foundation was not in rigid religious doctrine, but in covenant: a promise to love one another, to search for truth, and to serve our community and the greater world. We still gather and worship by that covenant today. We made LOVE our doctrine and SERVICE our prayer. We put our hands to work to build both our church and our community. Our church became a unique part of San Antonio history. Let’s celebrate that history together!
Saturday, January 25, 4:00pm
Our kick-off event will feature signing and distribution of our updated church history, as well as a talk from the book’s author. Historical displays will be set up throughout the campus highlighting important events in our church’s history and displaying some of our archival items. Hors d’oeuvres and wine bar will be offered.
Sunday, January 26, 11:00am
Worship service will feature special speakers and music to kick off our anniversary year. A cake and champagne reception will follow the service.
Throughout the year we will have other celebrations, including our Anniversary Banquet and Worship Service in April, a Church Picnic and Music Festival in September, and a Symposium in November. Like Unitarian Universalism, our church remakes itself to fulfill the needs of our congregation and our community. Let us move joyfully and boldly through this anniversary year and into the future. We have more Love and Service to give.
Whether you attend church every Sunday or have not attended in a long time, you are invited! We want you to come home this year and celebrate with us!
